Visit a community built
around the railroad. Our shops are housed in storefronts and homes
circa 1840-1930. Shopkeepers, restaurateurs, and artisans welcome
you with warmth reminiscent of a time gone by.
LaGrange is located northeast
of Louisville off I-71 at exit 22.
Oldham County was formed
in 1824. Shortly after in 1827 the City of LaGrange was founded.
Named after General Lafayette’s home, “the farm,” LaGrange was a logical
location for the county seat since major county crossroads to the south
and east passed through the area.
The Louisville and Frankfort
Railroad was completed in the late 1850’s and to this day LaGrange remains
one of the few Kentucky cities where the train still runs through the center
of town.
